American Airlines Bookings once again on Expedia

By | Apr 17, 2011

American Airlines and Expedia, one of the leading online travel company, on Monday reached a agreement, ending the three month dispute and getting American Airlines Flight Bookings back on Expedia and Hotwire.
The agreement was announced in a joint statement but did not disclose the terms.

AMR Corp owned American Airlines has been trying for months to get lower the commissions it paid to various online travel sites. In December American stopped selling its flight tickets on Orbitz and then a week after Expedia was also removed. Orbitz and American have yet to resolve their differences and bookings are still suspended on Orbitz.

Though American Airlines might save money by not having tickets sold on online travel sites, it could also loose many passengers to other Airlines which have their bookings available on online travel sites as Passengers will not be able to find American Airlines Flights, Experts Said.

Also about one third of flyer in United States book their flights on different travel sites, some low cost airlines such as Southwest Airlines have still managed to get their Flights full without partnering with different travel sites usually because of deal seekers who will often check the airlines websites for best fare.
